Regear with 285/75/16 ?

I've got a 1997 SR5 4runner with the 5vz-fe 3.4L v6. I believe the gear ratio should be 4.10 stock? It currently has 245/70/16 on there right now (came with the vehicle, purchased used) and the spedometer seems to be a bit off... it sais im driving 50 and im actually going about 46 or 47.

So I'm going to be doing a 2.25" suspension lift front and rear to my 4runner with tundra TRD coils, ome prado shocks front and rear, limiting straps, diff drop bracket, sway bar discs. and all the other good stuff...

now here's the pop.., im thinking about running just 265/75/16 and getting 1" wheel spacers to give the added width of the axle rather than running a wider, taller tire. Two reasons for this:
1) Re-gearing may be necessary and I dont have 1600 dollars to fork out for that... if I did, id just get 2 ARBs and a compressor while I was at it :drink:
2) Tires are considerably cheaper at 265/75/16 for the BFG MT because its still a pretty small tire and isnt overly popular like the 305s or the 285s.I notice dealers tend to bargon more with the smaller sized but aggressive tires because everyone wants to go big.

I could afford a 285/75/16 and I know I could get them to fit with minimal to no rubbing (I can always add a 4crawler 1" body lift!), but the question is: Will I have to re-gear to run 285/75/16 tires?
Will the power and gas milage loss be that significant? or should it be ok with the stock gearing?

anyone? is 285/75/16 too large to run with 4.10s ?

I hate to be the bringer of this but, that little search button holds all the info on your topic that you could ever think up.

4.56's will bring you as close to stock as you can get. 4.88's are a little lower..I like mine.
