Hi-lift on stock roof rack?

I've seen Slee's product for mounting the hi-lift jack to the stock roof rack on a 4runner but I cant see spending more for mounts then I did on the jack. Anyone have a cheaper solution?

I know 'Ric', 'hhog4dc', and a few others have hi-lift jacks mounted to their roof baskets....

More pics can probably be found here....

Yeah - Hi-Lift mounts are oddly expensive compared to the jack itself. I never went for it since I thought the money would be better spent elsewhere. I stick mine in the back. When I wheel, I lock the tip down in the headrest, and strap the base to one of the eyes in the cargo area. Its free and its secure.

Oh, another reason why I don't mount it externally is that in AZ, metal on vehicles gets RIDICULOUSLY hot.

You could also check out Schaefer's cargo mount system:

Some one here had a pic up of how they mounted theirs in the cargo area that i'm gonna try next week when my hi-lift gets here. Its just like Shaefer's, but he just unbolted the two rings in the back of the cargo area and put new bolts in there. Same idea as Shaefer's, just a little more economical if you're like me and dont' have the money to buy Shaefer's.

Look here for mounting in the cargo area. I do something similar and it works great.

I fabed my own up out of some 1/8x2" flat stock i got from home depot and some 1/2" bolts.

Mine just use carrage bolts in the stock runners on the rack.
