alti meter and inclinometer

ok i hope this is the correct place to ask this dumb question, but how do you set the alti meter also what is the purpose of the (lock) for the inclinometer? and how do you set that, how can i test to se if it correct and if its not how do you adjust it-

To set the clinometer you just need to park on level ground and use the adjustment knob to level out the meters (you just turn it to adjust one, pull and turn it to adjust the other). I think the lock is just so you're not distracted by looking at it moving around as you're driving (someone please correct me if I'm wrong).

On the altimeter.. The owner's manual says that when you start a trip to either zero it out or set it to the right altitude if you know it. It fluctuates with the weather since it works off of barometric pressure so it's not really all that accurate, it just gives you an idea.

Yep, just set the altimeter to a known elevation. For example in Calif., most major highways have elevation signs every 1000 feet up in the mountains. I live near sea level, so dial in that around town. I find the meter needs to be reset above 4000' and it'll be pretty accurate up at higher elevations. Then it needs to be reset once you drop back below 4000' and it'll be fine back to sea level.
