2wd to pre runner
 

Hi all I'm new hear I have a 1997 Tacoma standard 2wd model how do I make it a pre runner?

First, There is no set standard for anything becoming a "prerunner".

Second, It will all come down to what your budget is and how far you want to go with the build.
The 5lug tacoma isn't the best platform to turn into a desert truck but it has been done. To make it a capable off road truck, your best bet is to look into a total chaos front end and a deaver leaf spring setup.
If the budget wont allow that stuff, you might be able to find a lift kit from fabtech but that wont add a whole lot of performance in the dirt.

I was think more like the Toyota pre runner same year

If you mean you want to turn your 5lug 2wd into a 6lug 2wd tacoma prerunner, it wont happen. They use a different a chassis and suspension from the 4x4s but are missing the transfercase, front diff and axles.
