Seat Cover Repair
The cloth on the binding of my T100's driver's side seat cover has split due to wear from the seat-belt. Any ideas on repair? Other than the splits, the covers are in great shape. New ones are $700 for the whole seat from Toyota. A local shop will repair at a cost of $300. Both seem outrageous.

Tell me about it. Two days after I got my Sequoia, my dog ran away on a very, very cold night, most likely chasing after some deer. After waiting ten minutes for him to come back, I decided to search the neighborhood for him and used a 1,000,000 candlepower spotlight to light up the night. Well, I went back to the house to see if he had returned, but he had not. Thinking I was in for a long night and having not eaten yet, I went upstairs to grab some Powerbars and water. When I came down, I opened the door to the truck and was greeted by the glow of light on the seat and the stench of burning leather. Yup, you guessed it: I left the spotlight on the seat and face down. In my haste and stress to look for my pup, I did an incredibly STUPID thing and lasered a hole in my two day old truck. :bang: :bang: :bang:
The thing is, I'm a commercial photographer who works with tungsten lights all of the time. I should have known better. Gaaah! It's going to cost me $500 to have an upholsterer order Toyota leather and sew the panel back in. Yes, I found my doggie, and yes, I still love him. |
