97 T100 fuel pressure test
Hello, I have a buddy with a 97 T100 that is having starting issues. If it sets for more than 5 minutes or so he has to crank it for about 5-10 seconds before it starts. Once its running everything is fine and the truck runs great. If you shut it off and then hit the key to start it right back up it starts up fine. It seems that the engine is not getting fuel right away like the pressure is bleeding down when it sets for a few minutes.
I would like to watch the fuel pressure when it is cranking to see if it is building up fast enough when he hits the key. The problem is I dont see a pressure port anywhere in plain view. Is it hidden somwhere? I have a mac tools fuel pressure test kit with all of the adapters available so that will not be problem. If sombody could let me know where the port is it would be very helpfull.
Also, how much fuel pressure should it have at idle. 97 T00 3.4L 5-speed.
Thanks

I don't have the exact answer for you, but I am having some difficulty starting mine as well. I think it may be the fuel pressure regulator at the firewall side of the fuel rail. I plan to replace mine in a few weeks if the problem continues.
