fj62-questions

Hey guys. I found a good deal(or so I think) on an 86 fj62. It seems to be in good condition but I am not sure about mileage or if the engine is new or rebuilt, what has been updated, changed, whatnot. The site says 5speed manual but I hear they only came in 4speed from america. Rust areas are the rocker panels and the rear latch and maybe door panels? Anything else I need to be looking for while looking at this vehicle? Any specific details would be wonderful. Thanks in advance. -Kyle :)

btw i'll be looking at it this week sometime. and as money is willing, I will be slowly forming it into an offroading/traveling vehicle. Am I wrong to think, this truck will perform better on the highway than my ol' slug 3.0 4runner? thanks again.

Robb- i have taken your info into consideration(as you see here) thanks for that! I have yet to get a reply from the seller..if he wants to sell, he betta contact me! :guitar:

Kyle,

If the Cruiser is a 1986, it is an FJ-60, not a FJ-62. The FJ-62's were '88, '89 and '90.

Major differences are; the FJ-62 is fuel injected while the FJ-60 is carbureted. The FJ-62 has all the power options (PS, PB, PW, AT, etc.) where the FJ-60 has a manual transmission and crank windows. I think they all came with PS and PB.

I've got a 1989 FJ-62 with 271,000 miles on it and it's going strong. Just got back a little while ago from a trip to Mt. Hood to take my son and his buddies snow boarding.

Whether you get the FJ-60 or FJ-62 (it's a personal preference) you won't be sorry. However, and I've seen it said on a lot of forums, You're gonna learn to love the right lane on the highway! Mine will do 0-60 in the same day!

Figure on about 12-13 MPG, but it'll take you anywhere.

Good Luck!

thats interesting. Not that i should believe everything on the sales page...it reads that its a 1986 with power everything and 5speed manual..and i thought the 62's had the square headlights? anyways, thanks for the info

The FJ60 was available with a 4spd manual.

The FJ62 was automatic only.

You can get nice, rust free vehicles in CA and AZ.

How many miles and how much $$$?
