Which glock
 

Those of you with experience, which glock do you guys think i should get first?

Im not too worried about the ammo cost differences either

Please state why you voted for a particular model.

Also, I will be sticking to Glock, H&Ks are $$$ as are Sigs.

glock 22 is a .40 cal i believe which is a good and cheap round... .45 is expensive and 9mm doesnt have the same knock down power as the .40 or .45... its your going for target practice, buy a .22 for cheaperness.

like i stated earlier, im not worried about the ammo costs ( i have a h00kup! yo!) LOL

as far as the knock down part, I dont believe that is true. If im going to have to shoot someone, im going to go for centermass and emptying the clip. Also, I wont be shooting ANYONE unless I have enough accuracy, which is the most important thing here.

I also forgot to mention, Ive only held the 21 so far. I know I know, i need to hold each one and see which shoe fits.

A little off target, but I had a Glock 27 and was very happy w/ it.
Have you considered a sub-compact?

i had considered one...but im just learning how to shoot(properly, that is)
and figure a fullsize or compact would be the way to go.

I chose the 21. Though I've had a 17c and loved it, the 45 acp round is more formidable and is a standard NATO round and more ubiquitous than the .40 s&w (short and weak :P ). There is something to be said for the intimidation power of looking at the business end of a .45acp as opposed to that of a 9MM.

Why not solve the question with sheer numbers and buy them all? :hillbill:

i have the 19. the reason why i chose it was it was compact w/o being too compact. it also felt right in my hand, especially when i shot it.

i've shot the .40 versions. its ok. a little more buck.

i have not shot the 45, but another reason why i went w/ the 9mm is that the ammo is cheaper.

so to answer your question, get them all :D

My buddy has a .40 cal XD- I agree it is a good gun, but I have seen it jam. My Glock 23 .40 has never jammed. I take care of it, but it has been subjected to dirty and harsh conditions.

G19. Assuming you're built like an average human being, it is THE perfect size for a carry gun. 9mm has plenty of power with suitable hollowpoints, and 15+1 is nothing to sneeze at. I'm of the school of thought that shot placement is key anyway - if you punch the holes in the right places, it doesn't really matter if the hole is 9mm in diameter or .45" in diameter.

If you prefer a larger caliber I'd get a G23 - same compact frame, but .40S&W for some more power. I've shot both back to back to back to back (alternating, two mags through each) and they're pretty comparable. I got the 19 just because of ammo costs.

if accuracy is the goal??? then a good revolver with at least a 6 inch barrel is in order.

can't throw as many shots but if the hole size doesnt matter then the number of shots wont either. Make the first one count : )

He did mention that he is learning to shoot. I think that it's best to learn with a revolver.

i said i was learning how to shoot properly...IE: stance and different positions. I know how to shoot, just not properly...ya know what i mean?

I dont plan carrying a revolver and most law enforcement agencies dont use the revolver.

With the 22, you can get a barrel and clip to swap over to a .357 round. So, with the 22, and a bit more for the clip and barrel, you get 2 guns. That's what I'm looking at.

Cant you do taht with some of the G.A.P. models? change them from a .45 to a 9mm?

Only thing I have shot on that list was a 23. It shot just like my HS2000 (Springfield XD). However, I like my 1st gen "XD" better. :)

What about a Steyr? I'm looking at an M40 right now and plan to go shooting at the range with it this weekend. The guns have an excellent rep, engineered by a former Glock designer, and can be had for considerably less than a Glock.
