Anyone carry a pocket knife?

I used to carry a medium size Swiss knife on my keychain for years. About 4 years ago, I was into butterfly knifes. I made a leather sheath and carried it on my belt. These are illegal and I almost walked into court one day when I saw the metal detector. I walked outside and hid it in the bushes. My friend who is a knife collector, showed me how easy the lock blades are to open. I found the perfect sized knife and I never go anywhere without it. I seem to have uses for it all the time. It's a Spyderco Jess Horn. Very lightweight with a clip and half serrated blade. Perfect size. Quick thumb opening...fast as a switchblade. It's a permenant part of my wardrobe...like my underwear...I don't leave home without it.

I carry a Benchmade Emerson Close Quarter Combat edition. It's got a black blade and is the sharpest thing I have ever seen Very tough knife.

I carry a Gerber Gator on me at work. It is great. The handle is some high-tech rubber stuff that is guaranteed not to break or cut. It is really sharp and is half serrated. I love it!

Woo Hoo, my first post here!

My benchmade Mchenry and Williams is my American Express card...I never leave home without it. I used to carry a spyderco for years, but it was time for a change.

I liked the look of the knife and the locking mechanism of the new benchmades.

One of the advantages of the mechanism is that with a flick of the wrist I can open and close the knife without even touching the blade.

Spyderco

I used to carry my Spyderco Clipit everywhere until 9-11 and now you can't go anywhere with it:pat:. I remember when the guards at the airport laughed at my knife saying that it was legal since it's short. Now it's not. Oh well!

MY first post here, thanks to Butnut. :D

You guys all carry "big iron" compared to me. Mine is a tiny 2.25" Swiss Army knife I keep on my key chain (except when going to airports; if they get any stricter you'll have to toss your shoes in the trash bin if they have metal shanks). Anyway it has a small knife, a screwdriver, scissors, tweezers, toothpick. The toothpick is sort of gimmicky, but other than that, I've gotten more use from this thing than any pocket knife I've owned. Amazing how many times the scissors and tweezers come in handy.

I like gadgets and knik-knaks and mini tools . My Swiss Army knife is kept in my driver door storage and my Leatherman utility knife is in my Man-purse I carry. Can't have enough toys...tools.

I have a knife also in my glove box just in case I would ever need it while driving. You never know when you need a knife out there and if someone wants to mess w/ you, you will have them think twice if you have it in your hand. :beaver:

I carry a a basic ol leatherman with me on my flightsuit when I fly. It comes in handy when I'm loading cargo on the jet!

I carry a Spyderco ClipIt Rescue all the time and at work I have a pouch with my mini mag, leatherman, spare boat keys and rifle tools on me. If I am on patrol I strap on a Cold Lake flight crew knife over my floater suit.

Mack, what do you do that you have to have rifle tools? Sounds like some kind of coast guard job..? :beaver:

I just spent a year as a firearms instructor with the Canadian Navy on the base so I always had the rifle tools in my pouch, for adjusting sights and conducting detailed tear downs. In my new job I have responsibility for all the weapons the sections owns.

My new job is with Port Operations and Emergancy Services and I coordinate the harbour security patrols on the water. From time to time I get to take a boat out and do some runs myself and I always am the first one to trial new equipment and procedures.

Gotta love a job where they hand me a $100,000 boat and tell me to go out and drive it like it was stolen at 30+ knots :tomcat:
