torn down and cleaned and polished and going back together .
Valve covers have been wire weeled and coated with a product called "shark hide" should be good for 8 Years they say

Got me one as a gift over the holidays.

I actually saw it on one of those TV shows on Saturday , and thought I would give it a try .. http://www.sharkhide.com/ . I used it on some pieces "joels build" and on some pieces on my trekker as well .. so far with good results .

all the alum. is blasted , then the shark hide is a coating, like a clear coat , that will protect with out dulling the surface .. just wash the dirt off :)
