Ask your local parts store and machine shops who they would recommend. They deal with the mechanics all of the time and should be able to give you a good reference for who could do the work for you. There will be a mechanic in your area somewhere that is great to deal with, just finding them is the problem, but they are out there and wont charge you an arm and a leg. Maybe someone in your area will find this thread and can give you a reference.
Looking at your profile I see you have an 86 Runner. Those are easy to work on and several could help you with yours if you can give a better description of what you are dealing with. A very basic tool box can repair 90% of the problems with these trucks. I started with a $20 socket set and a handful of wrenches. All I had was standard tools and had to move over to metric when starting on Toyotas.
