FJ 40 Tranny shifter removal
 

Easy question for anyone who has taken a stock 4-speed out of an FJ 40:
How do I get the shifter stick out? I have the boot off and I can see the ball where the shifter goes in. The manual I have tells me to turn it clockwise & it doesn't seem to be moving. I also read online to push down on the ball and turn it, but that doesn't seem to be working either. Any tips?
