Which yota would you buy?
I know most of you will choose the 4Runner...but which of these two would you get or think is the "better" value:
1) 04 4Runner Limited V8 AWD, everything except Nav ($36K) 2) 04 Tundra DC Limted V8 4WD TRD w/the Snugtop ($36K) We will probably go with the Runner b/c we don't really need a truck and my wife thinks the Tundra is too big, in her opinion anyway, but both are irresistable to me... :drink: |
Tundra, if you can get it with the e-locker.
|
I'd go with the Runner for sure.
|
I would go with the Runner.
|
Tundra--that's a no brainer to me.
|
Go w/ the runner, the d-cab tundra is huge. Turning radius of 100 miles :eek2: Plus after owning a fullsize I would say suv is more convenient unless your hauling dirty loads plus my dads runner is shweet :D

re
TUNDRA, sorry guys, but im just not to hip on the 4th gen. runners, but ive seen a couple (on here) that are SWEET.
|
Tundra. More versatile in many ways than the 4runner.

Tundra all the way, its the best riding truck out there plus plenty of power to boot. Plus i agree about the looks of the new runner, just not what it used to be.

Wait for the 2005 Tacoma
Wait for the 2005 Tacoma 4 door 4x4. The best of both worlds.

4Runner if you want to go and stop, Tundra if you need to carry stuff. After awhile, seeing that empty pickup bed in the rear view mirror gets boring. Also, Tundra is about to enter it's lame duck year, so Gen I Tundra residual will suffer from '06 on. Gen IV 'Runner residual will remain stronger.
All 'Runners are JDM built to highest Toyota standards. Not that Tundra is necessarily lesser assembly quality, but look around both cabins and decide which has better materials and creature comforts. I drove a dealer demo D-Cab last week. Like others said, it's a handful around town, and not much fun to drive on low grip surfaces with an empty bed. 4Runner with X-REAS feels like a GT car in comparison. There's little to fault on the 'Runner except some comments here about new styling. I think it looks best in darker colors like blue or black. It has the latest, clearly superior technology and refinements compared to the now five year old Tundra design. My 2¢ having owned both (but not a D-Cab version). |
Tundra.

My understanding was that TUNDRAS are not equipped with an electric locker, only a limited slip.
Correct me if I am wrong. |
Get what you will use. If you need a truck the Tundra is great. Midsize SUV the 4th generation 4runner is a small 04 Landcruiser. with all of the features of the cruiser. Plus the quality of being built in Japan is a real plus.

Tundra. I love those new DC's!! :nerd:
|
Always listen to the wife or you could be sleeping in the bed of the Tundra.
|
mmmmmmmm, tundra, if i had to get any PU, that's the one!
|
Thanks for all the inputs, tech'ers! Seems like a split votes. I may wait til later this year and see what the 05 Runner has to offer, with maybe a bump in HP. I like the DoubleCab but I prefer the console shifter of the Runner to the Tundra's column. That and the overall better interior of the 4R will probably steer our decision towards the 4Runner. Man, I wish I could have both... :bang:
