xcab seats = torture device?
lucky i own the truck but my xcab passengers aren't really happy back there.
1. have you done a long trip with a passenger in the xcab rear seats? 2. how long was it? 3. how did you ensure they still had feelings in their legs? |

I rode in the "x-cab" portion of a 93 pu from C-springs to Breckenridge a few years back. It was 2.5 hr drive (snow). As for #3, once my feet went to sleep I didn't care. It wasn't comfortable, but it was a free ride to the slopes. I think he tok most of the stuff otu of the back and I was the only person back there. However I go 6'3" and 200lbs so I was still a bit cramped... |
The 'front' seats aren't much better.

my friend rode in back of mine (it has a bit more room than a '92 i think) from alburquerquequerqurque to denver (about 6 hours). he was the only one back there so he had room to stretch out sideways. we had a few pillows so i don't really think it was that bad.

I rode in mine once for an hour or two. I'm not very big at all, and I was cramped as heck. I ended up strecthing out on both back seats and just sorta laying down.
|
My buddy rode back there 8hrs from Jackson Hole to Denver. Slept the whole way. He can sleep anywhere in any position though.
its not bad if you have some pillows and sit sideways. |
Its cramped back there. My dad has a 97 xcab and once in a while Im forced to sit back there for an hour or two, or 7. It completely sux. On the long trips, Id force the driver into stopping every half hour or so so I can stretch out. And Im not all that big either, only 5'4" and 120lbs.

Sorry to sway the conversation - but is there anyone who can compare the ride back there to say the ride in those inward facing x-cab seats on the rangers/mazda's? I think that was a cleaver use of space as opposed the forward facing Toyota xcab seats. How about the new Access Cab taco seats? anyone had a chance to sit in those?
|
I've owned two standard cab p/u's. I would never buy another one as a daily driver UNLESS it had an xtracab of some type for storage ( I need access to alot of my things w/o having to park and go to the bed). However, I don't think I'd ever want to sit back there!
|
i remember riding in the jump seats in my friend's mom's ranger as a little kid. didn't seem to be too bad, but i was a lot smaller then :hillbill:
|
the rear seats in any ext cab pickup just really sucks... tis made for small kids or stuff.... for sotrage... my dad has a ranger suspercab, and the seats fold out, they arent uncomfortable, its jsut there isnt much room, 2 people back there is impossible, but i can sit back there and im tall, but the ranger has the seats sideways so i stretch out, just my head hits the roof sometimes

I took drove from LA to Mill Valley (just nort of SF) with a buddy who's 6'4" in the back. Just him and pillows/sleeping bags though. He didn't complain much, course he had beer. Hardest part was getting him and out of the back.
