Cheaper OEM Parts

Yeah, I know this link has been around the block.

Anyway, I'm getting rid of my chrome and in the process, I need OEM Black windshield molding;; yotayard has them $15 per piece 8 in all including corners x 8, dealer is asking 41 plus per slice BS! So, I'll see if this place will throw corners in on the deal and make it sweet $60 vs $328 (short math) any way I'll let ya know..

Hey hang tight on that...I garantee the write-up that I sent to Corey for the ISR mod on the 96 - 97 3.4's will help you tremendously. He should have it up very soon. :bigok:

Agreed. You don't need to buy new Toyota parts to do the ISR on a 97, you just need to take off all the crap hanging off your intake hose and cap off the holes. The new parts make it look cleaner, but are not required.

cool thx

hey 96,

I think that should include the 98's because mine has the jtube and those other two danglers hanging off my one piece intake tube. I just pulled them all off and plugged them and jammed them back on and rerouted the vacuum hoses and reset the ecu and that was it. is that how you did it basically? (you probably removed the three components completely but for the same effect)

Yeah, the write-up I submitted will help 98 3.4's too. But, it wont be exactly the same as the 96/97's. The J-tube should be the same diameter, but the front Intake Silencer is not. And the 98's do not have the small rear silencer like the 96/97's.

Regardless, it will help, but the Home Depot part numbers will be slightly different.

Just a quick question, this mod is only for ECU controlled cars, right, or maybe even just the V6's? And is it simply making a larger "pipe" into the airbox to allow easier/more passage of air?

you are thinking of the deck plate mod. you can do that. the isr mod is not for your engine though I don't think.

then yea, we did basically the same thing. I just capped of the boxes and reinstalled them so I would still have that "stock" look with the boxes hanging off the intake tube. plus they plug up that small volume that is left when you pull everything and just cap off the tube holes giving a smoother ID of the tube, that's my drug influenced vision it anyway.

I think the Deckplate mod is for ECU controlled cars, because they have the Air "box", up front close to the headlight. The Carbed engines have their airbox (more of a flat cylinder) located above and to the left of the engine block

It goes right there on top of the carb (ain't my truck dusty??). Unless maybe the box behind the light can be opened up, but I thought that box was for collecting moisture.

The only thing I disagree with is the FPR line that is now capped because of your set-up. Data has shown that the FPR line capped will run the 3.4 rich, thus losing performance at lower more "useable" rpms. I recommend using a plumbing end cap on the front ISR box with a barbed fitting for the FPR line. You can wait for the write-up to come out to see more. The truck is definetly faster with the FPR line hooked up.
