New motor for sure.

terryjmatthew 04-27-2005 06:39 PM

Since I still owe about 5 K more than mine is worth, I would have to put a motor in it!

dragr1 04-27-2005 07:25 PM

Used motor.

hamstrungtaco 04-27-2005 08:04 PM

new motor def, diesel if possible

kyle_22r 04-27-2005 08:25 PM

cmon, it's only a motor.

BruceTS 04-27-2005 09:06 PM

Definately I'd install a used japanese imported engine........ Oh! wait! I already did that :D

arjan 04-27-2005 09:20 PM

I bought a used engine at the junkyard for about $1100 US with 12K miles on it. Hardly worth parting out a vehicle over that kind of money. The engine came with the clutch, and they gave me the oxygen sensors which came with that engine. I was also due for a timing belt change, so at that point it was very cheap.

DubJunkE 04-28-2005 10:09 AM

I just bought a used motor and installed it for less than $800, it's the way to go :smokin:

Wildcat_4R 04-28-2005 10:56 AM

What about rebuilding the dead motor? That's the route I've gone :)

My PU's body is in great condition, so I would deff get a new motor.

87TurboYota 04-28-2005 01:13 PM

I'd put a used 350 small block in mine, if my motor went.

dexter 04-28-2005 01:25 PM

f2uning engine, twin turbo with nos baby

terryjmatthew 04-28-2005 03:08 PM

On my 2nd Gen, I did like BruceTS and got an imported Japanese engine.

yamarocket630 04-28-2005 03:52 PM

I'd haul mine to the dealer and tell then to warranty it! Wait, I'd make them come and get it too!

If it was out of warranty, I'd build the motor myself, unless I happened to destroy the block. Then I would build the cheapest used motor I could find.

nmtoy 04-28-2005 07:03 PM

I have a spare motor in the garage waiting to be rebuilt...

Lone4runner 04-29-2005 08:52 AM

definitely new motor junk yards got enough 4Runne parts just shop around. i thought i needed a new motor it was just the next thing down in terms of price a flywheel.

MANCHILD 04-29-2005 02:13 PM

how much $ was everyones engine? whether it was a rebuild or the japan engines?

Ilovemountains 05-03-2005 05:12 PM

supra swap here!

If my 3.0 dies and Im sure it will Im going to jump on the 5M-GE straight 6 bandwagon... I dont want to deal with a turbo but I like the idea of the inline 6.. just my .02 :bigok:
