Where does this ground wire go? Help?
 

See attached pic. There is a ground wire attached to the firewall on the passenger side of the engine bay. Hopefully the pics make it obvious what you're looking at. If not, say so and I'll clarify. Much thanks for help sorting this out.

First do you have any idea what it is for ? Where does the other end go ??

Does removing it cause anything not to work ??

It is from something someone added or modified you can tell by how long the Heat Shrink Tube is

What is wrong with where it is??

If in doubt run it to the battery ground terminal or to one of the inner fender bolts

The engine ground should be above the seam up and to the right of your pictures, perhaps someone relocated it after they removed it or forgot to undue it when they pulled the engine making it a little short.. Looks like someone had a leak, thats a lot of silicon.

If you feel around the area that Malcom99 at the backside of the engine (passenger side) just below the valve cover about 3 inches in you may feel the other end and locate the bolt that hold it to the engine. No easy to see......

wyoming9, I'm not sure what it's for. I'm thinking it is an engine ground but not sure where it goes. It's not currently attached to anything and the truck runs fine. Don't think it's from a mod. Nothing is modified on this truck. Stock as ˟˟˟˟, except the silicone for the leak. I don't mind where it is. I need to know what it should be attached to.

ThorInc, So are you saying it is an engine ground and the attachment location is below the valve cover on the engine block?

I did replace the valve cover gasket after checking valve clearances two summers ago. It may be from that. If it's an engine ground I want to sort it out. Don't need any extra electrons floating around wreaking havoc (i.e. leads to overheating on the older 22RE).

Like the other guys said, it goes above the firewall seam. You'll see a threaded bolt hole. However, it's fine where it is too, it's a ground.

Where on the engine block does the ground attach? Any pics available would be great.

No worries. Let me get my hands dirty first, then if I can't find it I'll bug others for pics.

So don't worry about pics yet. Sorry. I should eliminate all avenues on my own first.

Is each ground specific to certain applications or are they all just to provide numerous locations for grounding for the whole harness?

Just another grounding point for block to body. The truck will run fine without it as the engine is grounded to chassis and chassis to body other places but more grounds are more better.

This is from my '99 3RZ.
The left arrow points to the strap, and the middle arrow points to the attachment bolt (rear, passenger side of the block).

I recommend that you attach yours properly. You may have to purchase a new wire, or get one from a wrecker

Not certain if a '95 2RZ is the same, but I hope this helps.
