Where do you put the oil pressure sender in a 3.4 4runner?

Ok, before i go ripping things out and messing things up i wanted to ask this.

One of the things i will be adding is an oil pressure guage. I was looking at what looks to be the stock sender (right by the oil filter on a 2000 4runner limited 3.4) and i see that there is what looks like another port right below it that has a plug but i don't know for sure. Can i put a guage there? It looks like it might be a bigger threaded hole.

Where did you mount yours?

Looks tight from the little pic (can't click it due to stupid net nanny...)

It looks like you took out the stock sender and put in yours? is it a standard 1/8 NPT thread?

I just added an oil pressure guage to my truck last month. If you are laying underneath the engine bay the oil filter is on the driverside of the block. The sending unit for the oil level dummy light is right next to the filter. Simply remove the sending unit and insert the end of the pressure line. Be prepared with a very slim and short box wrench to get around the nut, its rather tite on space and trying anything larger or a deep enough socket wont fit. I left my skidplate on when i did the instalation because mine is reinforced to hell wiht multiple long length bolts. If you have one id recomend taking it off first :)

If your having trouple identifying it its the peice with a detachable plug on the end where the wires come out of, and on the engine block side there is a hex shaped collar you need a box wrench for.

If you have any quesions about what to do or where to go with things let me know.

Guess i should have said my sender is an eltro sender with 1/8 npt threads.

I heav heard that the stock threads are metric? do i need ad adapter? what kind?

and yes my skid plate is off right now.

i would gently try inserting the adapter for your pressure line without the line attached to it. see if it will thread in a bit without problems. If not you will need to get a differnet adapter which you could find at a decent hardware store.

I used an equios guage for mine which came with multiple senders for each side thread. I dont know if the one i used was metric or standard and just squeezed in there. Either way i had no problems with the instalation. If you dont have the guage yet you can get the type that i used for 20 bucks at knetchs or schucks or probably napa.

im saying all of this with the assumption that your guage jsut has a little tube that runs right to the back of it from the engine.

That is why i said it was an eletro guage. It has a sender judt like the stock one and a wire coming out of it that gose to the guage. Much easier to install.

This should help out alot...........this is the write up i used, installing the sender is a PITA

Yeah that's a 93 sender on a 5VZ, same threads as stock what ever that is.
