What is the fastest mph you have done with your lifted 2nd gen w/ 33" MT tires?

Well I think I have hit the fastest speed my 2nd gen 4 runner I have ever done with it. I hit 90mph@4000rpm today probably 95mph actual speed on the interstate passing a SAAB you should have seen the look on his face.
I was running 91 octane gas and am running stock 4.56 gearing with 33x12.50 Mud Tires too and I still had accellerator left on it.
I'll tell you it was freaking scary at that speed with a lifted tipsy 4 runner I couldn't imagine doing over 100 mph I am sure it would do it though.
I know it's not cool to go at those speeds probably won't do it again but it was interesting to know I could do that kind of speed with it most people say they can't get over 85mph with 33's.

i never got over 75mph (when i had 33s) uncorrected for increased tire size, (probably 80-83 true MPH)

A: too scary for my taste
B: going faster would either require a downhill slope or a strong tail-wind

I did 100mph in WolfpackTLC's cruiser w/ 35in MTRs but its got a wee bit more toque than the old 3.0

The guy that did a 302 swap said he's done over 100 with 35's (but his is an 85)...

With 4.88's I can hit 90 pretty easy but the motor is turning some serious R's! Finally got to do the test since regearing this weekend. For comparison it's a 7 % grade and about 9 miles to the top. I used to have pull it in 3rd gear rapped out at about 45 mph. I pulled it yeserday at 65 mph in 4th gear no problem. Regearing was by far the best mod I've done.....well most practical anyways.

I have gone 80 with a 3.0, auto and 5.29's. The out of balance tires that are chunking really make life hell at the speed not to mention I would hate to need to stop.

DISCLAIMER: The above feat was accomplished by accident in Nebraska heading west on I-80. It was 8 at night and I could not see another soul in either direction. The road was so straight and flat if I would have taken a leak it would have just puddled.

Hey Flygtenstein, Love the dislaimer! I had my runnner in Germany for a year and it would do 90 all day long on the autobahn. Of course thats with 32's (uncorrected) and what I believe are 4:10's right now and before the lift. Yes the old girl did take a while to get up there and that's dangerously slow for the autobahn but it was just fine on those smooth german roads I never batted an eye. (no wonder the motor was in desperate need of a rebuild this year) ok well ya I had been used to driving my bimmer at speeds well in excess of 110mph so there's no substitute for experience. But I just arranged to have the 4:88's and E-locker installed next week. Then the 33's will be going on. Then we'll see what she can do with that. and so on and so on etc. etc.

235 mph terminal velocity just before impact.
Note: If you ever contract a transport to take your truck to the jungles of South America, verify IN ADVANCE the method of delivery. (An actual landing and unloading is preferable.)

[The guy that did a 302 swap said he's done over 100 with 35's (but his is an 85)...]

I did over 95 with my 22RE and 4:88s and 33s, I bloody hope a 302 will do 100.

I've gotten 100, foolishly the first week I got the car. No lift though, and no 33s... but I like to stick around 80 normally.

ive gone 90 on my 33's with stock gears; trying to get onto the freeway . its pretty scary tho going that fast, that high off of the ground. not to mention the steering wheel becoming very sensative.

[[not to mention the steering wheel becoming very sensative]]

Oh yeah, sure does! Every time I loaned the 85 to someone they thought the steering or alignment was screwy. It wasn't - it's just the way it feels with 4" lift and 33x12.50s at speed. Use a light touch and it drove wonderfully, but oversteer any at all and it gots a might twitchy... Kinda like a small plane...

See above disclaimer...

80-85 corrected with 4.88's. About 72 with the 5.29's - trying to baby them til I hit 500 miles.

I just did the math, I'm at 506 miles on the 5.29's...time to change the diff oil!!

I got up to 140 km/hr (about 87mph) in my truck, 265/75/16's, no lift. 3.4 v6. didn't feel very stable (i'm still used to a small car, only got the truck a few weeks back) so i slowed down to about 115. (70) Feels fine there. The highways here in Newfoundland have a lot of bad ruts in em though so its pretty much impossible to have a light touch on the steering. The road turns the front wheels for you! :chicken:

What they call highways in Newfoundland we call goat paths in the rest of the world, so I hear. Ruts, boulders, the occasional open field ("where'd the road go?") sort of thing...

I've hit 90 with mine on a couple occasions with more pedal left. Pushing some serious rpms and she starts to shake a bit (tire balance maybe) so I back her down a bit. According to my GPS I'm hitting 102 with the 33's, but having a buddy pace me its closer to 98 mph. that seems more real. Puts the stock rear end with the bigger tires about 8 to 8.5 mph off.

Those of you who are running stock gears with 33's. Did you notice a major loss of power when switching to the bigger tires? Or was it reasonable? I am in the market for new tires and am not sure if I want to go bigger or not.

Hmmm....in order to lose power you kinda need to have power and the 3.slowwww has ? A bit of a diffence but not real noticable, guess it depends how ya drive.
