What do your tires really measure?
I am looking into new tires, so I am comparing what I have with others in respect to height.
I have 265x75R 16's AT's they only measure 30.5" from the ground to the top of the tread (with a ruler across the top of the tread) at 36 psi. I thought they were closer to 32"??? So if you are curious, park on flat ground, put a ruler across the top of your tire and measure their height. Please post your results. |

You could try making two measurements. One top to bottom, and one side to side, then avaraging them. That might give you a number closer to 32 and compensate for squishing under weight. Or it might not, I just thought of it.

Measure your spare while laying flat (paralell to the ground).
BFG says they are 31.8, while the 275-70R-16 is 31.3" tall, but wider. The width measurment is said to depend on the width of the rim the rubber is installed on. CLICK HERE to see their chart. |
My 31x10.5's only measured just a little over 29 inches when I took a measuring tape to them a while back. They were a little low at the time, so when they are properly inflated I'd guess they are actually just a little under 30 inches.
