weird problems during deck install

The stock cd player on my 99 4runner packed it in so I installed an old Alpine deck I had kicking around just to have something to listen too. I took out the deck and the amp behind it to use the wiring harness. I went by this diagram http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/...tail/2028.html First the blue/yellow didn't work as a constant(???) so I patched into the ignition. The power antenna didn't work either with the black/white to the blue wire on the deck harness. Now when I put it back together, the dash clock doesn't work and the trip odometer resets itself everytime the ignition turns off. The cd player works fine except for the p. antenna. Anybody know what the heck I did wrong?

Did you cut the factory harness and wire into that??? If so then reattach the factory harness and buy an adapter and wire your headunit to the adapter and you're done. Very easy, no crossing of wires and it sounds great, mine does.

Yes, I cut into the harness at the plug before the amp. I realize that buying a different harness would be easier but would it help my problems? The odometer thing blows my mind.

This is why i steer clear from splicing harneses.
much easier to buy 15 dollar plugs

Installed a harness. All my problems were solved. Nothing like turning a 1hr project into a 6hr mess though. Thanks for the help guys. To anyone who sees this thread using the search function, BUY A HARNESS!!!
