Weird clutch problem

Not sure how to describe the problem exactly other than it "feels" different. It seems to have lost it's ease of slipping the clutch is nessicary and the feel of a good solid engagement. Also when the pedal was all the way up you could feel it at the top and you can't anymore.

It started last night and then this morning there were a few times with the clutch all the way in and the truck in gear it was still moving. I'd have to yank it in to neutral real quick or step on the brake and it would shudder and die. That happening at a stop light is no fun. Seems though you pump it once or twice and it works fine and I didn't have any problems while already in motion, just in 1st and reverse. I'm wondering if I need to just bleed the system or maybe the slave or master cyl is going bad.

could be a failing clutch mater cylinder or slave cylinder. could try to bleed the hydraulic line (same way as bleeding the brake system). That way, while you were bleeding the line, you could visually verify if the slave is moving the clutch fork.

Yeah. I'll have to wait for my roommate to get home for that. I usually just bleed it with a big syringe and some plastic hose. Well until my power bleeder comes in.

Well I bled it last night like I normally do everything and now I have 0 pressure and I can pump to my hearts desire and never get anything more. I'm going to have my roommate help me when I get back from class. If that doesn't fix it I'll replace the master cyl. I can't be too upset. It's got 179,500 and the only other things I've had to replace is brakes and a battery, and the original battery lasted 10 years.

My car is also down right now because it has a leaky clutch master cyl.

I just had this issue and solved it by replacing both slave and master cylinders. At 12 years old they are bound to wear out

I replaced the clutch master this evening, bled it, and drove for about 10 minutes. We'll see how it does tomorrow. The fluid in the system originally was nasty too. Almost black.
