Insane! Who decided it's worth putting so many man hours into an old truck.

That site has been up for a while. Demello and probably other vendors have already made frame reinforcements for that specific spot. Even 01+ seem to be succeptable to flex in that region. That definitely was a design flaw by Toyota, though, which is why they tried to correct it with the 01+ models.
