weber carb of fuel injection?

Should I convert my 22R to a 22RE or put a weber carb on it? How much would either one cost and how much more hp would they produce?

Skip the Weber and convert over to EFI. I got better mileage and power w/ FI than when I ran a Weber. I no longer have to worry about stalling on steep hill climbs and off camber situations either.:)

if i was running strictly on the road, i'd go with the weber. easier to work with

i plan on getting weber fuel injection in the future. they're coming out with a generic throttle body bolt-on kit with a fully programmable ecu

has anyone converted a 22R to a RE?? if so how much $$?

Arnold 01-04-2004 05:46 AM

Luckily I found a donor truck and paid $100 for all the parts needed to do the conversion. The prices I've seen normally run between $200-300.

Best advice is to find a complete truck, preferably one that runs. Had to spend another $100 to get the fuel injectors cleaned and balanced since they looked questionable and the truck had not been run for a long period of time.

Factor in another $50 or so for filters, gaskets and other misc. things. I sold my entire Weber setup so that basically paid for the conversion.

I am pretty sure the hardest part was not $$$ but the electrical wiring.

Kyle, I tried searching yahoo for weber's site, and got alot of carburetor sale sites, but not weber's. I am REALLY interested in this kit, especially if its around $500-600 (basically the going rate for a new carb).

Maybe yotatech can set up a group by too! :D

i'm thinking it'll probably be twice the price at least, especially seeing how expensive aftermarket injection systems are just for the ecu and wiring. the weber kit comes with a 2 injector throttle body and all the sensors/computer/etc

http://www.redlineweber.com is the site, it's in there

even if it is expensive, i'm gonna save up and buy it. the main selling point for me is that i can keep all those vacuum hoses and junk out of my motor, plus the ecu is totally computer programmable

Yeah I was thinking about the programmable ECU, that's going to be the kicker. Oh well...
