Want to buy A HILUX
Anyone know where I can buy a HILUX SURF or HILUX? Can you get them in the U.S.? Or do you have to have them shipped?

Are you referring to the 4runner-type Hilux or the Hilux pickup trucks? They're very different vehicles. I've owned a 1998 Hilux double cab pickup, and driven and wheeled many Hiluxes, including the the New Hilux Vigo. IMHO, Tacomas and 3rd gen 4runners are better built overall and ride a lot nicer & quieter.
Funny, we're full of Hiluxes here and a lot of people I know could kill for a Tacoma. |
I don't know, but parts have to be harder to get for those vehicles or find someone to work on them in the U.S. Check out what year you want though. I was in Panama for a while and just recently did those trucks switch to coil style front suspension. Up until a few years ago they were building them on the chassis of the 86'-95' toyota trucks here. They just send all the old tooling somewhere else. But 4 doors and diesel is awesome!

Hilux Surf = 4Runner. In Japan, it's known as the Hilux Surf. Outside of Japan, it's known as the 4Runner.
Hilux = 1 tonne capacity Tacoma with some facial variations. Tacoma is rated for 1/2 tonne only |
You can't import them to the US due to the 25 yr rule. It has to be bought in the US or certified for import (similar canadian vehicles, some industrial trucks etc.)
Most people buy'em in Canada because they're diesels. So unless you find one thats 25 yrs old, you're pretty much SOL. |
