Tundra Brake Upgrade part/advise needed.
Hope someone can help... I upgraded my brakes last year to 2003 Tundra calipers (231mm) and I bent to destruction one of the piano wire brake-pad tension anti-rattle doohickies, so I did without it on that side. After a year of noise I finally can't stand it anymore and want to fix the problem I caused. Does anyone know where I can buy the wire "thing" without buying a set of pads? Or does anyone have a alternative way to prevent the dreadful rattle of the pads? Help appreciated. Unfortunatly I can't go to a dealer because I am in Japan and 1) Tundra is not sold here 2) Getting the parts guy to understand I have Tundra brakes on a 4-runner (HILUX) would be a translation nightmare.

What if we could get the toyota part number and then you could go to the dealer would that work?
|
That would be perfect. Is there a place on-line where one can see part numbers for Tundra brakes?
|
Not the part number but if you enter one you could verify it is what you need: Toyota of Dallas

what about tundra solutions .com

picture?

What about phoning your local dealership and buying a hardware/fitting kit which will include all that stuff?
If they don't keep it in stock, they can get it for the next day. |

Yes that is what it looks like. Thanks I'll try to use that number, but it did not work in the Toyota of Dallas link above. How did you get the number? BTW what made you go with 231mm vice the 199mm, and did you have to mod your wheels?

If that part number doesn't work.
This is what the little zip loc baggie said. on the label. Description: Fitting Kit, DISC Brake FR Come with 2, i'm pretty sure you only need one per side, But they're are sold in pairs. correction: i made a typo on the part number sorry. 04947-0C010 those are all zero's by the way no "ohs" hahaha |
That's it, the number works, $2.28 is all. Hope it will work at the japanese dealer, but if it doesn't I can mail order from ToD. Very much appreciate the help.

The caliper W-spring always gets installed at the top of the caliper.

For people using the 13WL 231MM Calipers. This is how you install the clips. You will need two per caliper.

If so do they fit ok on the 3rd gen 4runner and does that make it easier to do the big brake upgrade. I have a 96 limited that has warped front rotors and I want to add the FJ wheels when I do the brake upgrade. Thanks. |
