Tricking Auto Tranny for dyno?
I am about to goto dyno to test my new setup (10psi with WI), but i am wondering if its possible to prevent the tranny form downshifting like crazy all the time. I was thinking of taking the kickdown cable out as well....any other advice?

What removing the cable may do is damage the transmission due to the high torque demand coupled with low throttle pressure. What actually determines what gear you are in is the computer. This is accomplished by it applying voltage to solenoids in the transmission in a specific pattern for each shift. What I would recommend would be to disconnect the transmission wiring harness from the trans and apply voltage to shift solenoid 2, which will give you third gear only- this is the 1:1 ratio that dyno tests are made in. -John |
Also Johnny, feel free to contact me if you need info on which pin the voltage needs to get to.
