tranny problem

sup guys, i jus changed my 4runner's speed sensor gear about 3 weeks ago due to it being just shredded up real bad, and i just looked at it about 30 mins ago and it looked like its being shredded up also. the threads are just getting eaten away! i also have this problem where when im in first gear and get to about 2.5/3 thousnd rpms while shifting up it feels like it slips and my whole car just rattles like its grinding or something.i have to end up taking off real slow. anyone have clue what it can be? i have a feeling im gonna be having to rebuild that damn thing.ive gotta bout 160,000 miles on it now. Anyone have an estimate on how much it would cost me and where a good place i can have it done at?

i also hear clicking in my engine and my neighbor told me that i would need a valve job. what could have caused that to happen?

Are you talking about the gear that drives the speedometer cable from the transmission?
