Toyotas - choice of US Special Forces
Don't know if anyone has touched on this before, but I found this webpage which shows some of the trucks US Special Forces are using overseas. Heck, you know the quality's there if these guys trust their lives to these trucks.

Yep, they bought 'em from S.E. Toyota too... Them ain't Hilux's.
edited to add: They do use Humvees also. You can often see them side by side. The real reason they use the Toyota is because they blend in better (they have those friggin trucks everywhere in the world, not so with Humvee) also, the Toyota will fit in the rear of a CH47, the Humvee will not. note: I think the site commentary is funny... But, in the last picture, the GMPG does not have a "raptor night vision scope" on it. Sorry guy. |
Lol nice color choice. Red truck in the middle of the desert

Watch the discovery Times channel for shows about the afgan special forces. They show double cab tacomas out the wazoo! They even show them doing some cool offroading (not much for roads in the Afgan mountains!) and even some insane water crossing (on "boats" that are more like canoes made from local materials).
Hats off to all the service men and woman around the world! |
One of the first bombing targets in the Afghanistan war was the Toyota dealership in Kabul! Took out the Taliban Armory with a few cruise missiles.

Yeah most of those trucks have been in the afghani desert since the war with the russians. These darned youters run forever. from afghan, to Taliban, to us. :bigok:
