I just installed my Revo's today with the white out, and it looks really good against my dark green 4runner. I'll have some pictures tomorrow.

no offense but white out was cool in the '80's on 4x4's. just my .42:rockon: |
I say white out. I think it looks really good with your truck. BTW, can we get those hood mounted rear view mirrors that are on the Hilux for our 3rd gens here in the States?
Matt |
Well, almost 2-1 in favor of black out. However, if the votes that were cast for black "only if you wheel it" are discounted it's pretty darn close to even.
Chris (ravencr) I'd like to see your pics as soon as you get them up. I've NEVER had OWL on a vehicle in my life, but I agree with Matt (and others) that it looks pretty good with my color truck. It's a good thing the tires won't be here for a few more weeks. Maybe I should let my seven year old son decide. No preconceptions with kids you know. |
Black out I say.
|
Woody,
I got a suggestion: Before you have the tires put on, on one side of your 4runner. put the tires up against the rims and stand about 15 feet back so you can get perspective. Then go back and then flip the tires around and stand back again. See what you like. Or, go to the local Shinto shrine and get "enlightened" on your dilemma. :hillbill: Bob |
My thinking is if youhave a dark vehicle, outlined white letters on the wheels look really good. If you have a light colored vehicle, I would do black out. Here's some pictures of mine with the 285 Revo's with white out, and my color is dark green.

Looking good Chris:bigok:
Bob- There is a Temple about 100 yards from my house. Maybe I'll seek some "enlightenment". |
Originally posted by outdoorfever white out, because if you get tired of the white lettering, you can let the letters get covered in dirt and brake dust, and it looks just like the black side, but then if you decide you want white letters, just give the tires a good scrub and it looks all nice again, two for one. thats what i do:D |
Depends on if you are going to wheel with it or not. I'd say that if you are going to not wheel it, keep the REVOS, white letters out. If you are going to wheel with it, ditch the REVOS and get at least some BFG A/T's white letters in.
|
I don't think that was a fair statement in regards to the BFG's being any better than the Revo's off road. I've heard that the revos are the best on and off-road tire all-around anywhere. It's not the best off-road, but decent, but the on-road ride is near awesome!

White out looks really good against the overall color and design of your rig.
My opinion, anyway ;) |
BLACK OUT
BLACK OUT BLACK OUT BLACK OUT There's .16 cents for ya...listen to the boys...black out. Good luck. Billy |

White Out first while the tires are new. Then put it in when it becomes dirty white.
My $.03 CAD = $.02 US  |

thats a nice Explorer:laugh: j/k the white makes me think of domestices:laugh: so why are you selling the truck, getting a V8 4Runner:roll: |
The pictures are of the 1997 I'm keeping. My 1998 isn't sold yet, but hopefully soon.
Chris |
I like the white out, it looks good... But, I agree with what the others have expressed about the black out...
So, I vote black out. BTW: Did you hate your stock tires so much that you want to change them this badly ?? |

BTW: Did you hate your stock tires so much that you want to change them this badly ?? I just really need something more aggressive for driving in the sand. I have not had a problem yet, but I've stayed away from getting into some of the deeper, soft sand locations I'd like/have to go in. |
