Tire Questions

What are some of the cost-effective(long-lasting, good overall performance) tires available for replacement for 3rd Gen. with factory 16"s? AT KOs seem to be the most popular one.

******Your Opinions on following********

-white wall out or in?

-noise level on freeway?

-difference when cornering?

-availability?, where do you get'em for good deal ?

i'm trying to picture this with the new tires on........

Nice Runner - welcome aboard.

BFG AT's are a great all around tire. I'm on my second set. (40K+ miles/set) I'm on 15" rims, but they make them for your application. They are just a little noisier than a pure street tire, but no "hum" like a mud tire. Cornering improved for me since I think the sidewalls were a little stiffer than what I replaced (Goodyear RTS).

Some others have talked about the Bridgestone Revo AT's as another good option - I have no experience with those however.

Good luck!!

i was on www.tirerack.com and REVOs are the ones that would suit my needs...and great milege and overall performance, thanks for your info.

2001Millrunner,

Nice rig dude!!

I had the Bridgestones AT's on my 93 Surf and I really liked them.

I have the Bridgestone REVO's on my 2000. They are very quiet considering the tread design and they are excellent on wet, dry and snow covered roads. I've put only 10,000 miles on them so I can't say much about wear. The OEM Bridgestones were nearly half shot after 10,000 miles.

Ditto on the Tirerack info. Check it out.

I agree, the factory tires are horrible, i almost did a 180 the second day from after i bought it. i was coming out of freeway ramp from stop light (WITH VSC)!, it scared the crap out of me, because i used to drive a FF 92 Prelude

i have the BFG, MTs and love them, they are not as nosiey as i thought they would be, if you roll the windows down and turn the radio off put your ear to the window then you can hear them, but i like the sound, lol.

Don't like BFG AT's, I have them on right now. Good in dry & snow & highway driving surprisingly, but that seems to be about it. I'd recommend Bridgestones for what it sounds like you need them for. Dueler ATs or Dueler AT Revos.

And white lettering in. I have them on the out right now too and it's too eighties & difficult to keep clean.

I agree with HBoss about leaving the white-lettering in- especially with your truck being silver. It looks a whole lot classier on a brand new silver truck if black tire's all you see.

hm.....i dont know i thought the white-out looked better..i was going for the "confusing" look hehe...although it's not, it looks like it could do a lot(brushguard for one). i dont think anything on my rig is actually functional :eeek: on another note I'm trying to save up for a SC(im sure you've heard about 1000,000,000 people say it but i've recently came to realize that i'd have to get VB for my tranny and tranny cooler..so im just overwhelmed about the whole cost..who has SC? how much is overall cost?
