Time for a brake upgrade, just a few questions

The front brakes on my 2002 Tacoma are just about done and i'd like to upgrade the brakes while i'm at it.

My 2 options are the 199mm Tundra brake upgrade and the 231mm Tundra brake upgrade.

Yes I have read multiple DIY's on both.

My question is, will my 16x7? TRD wheels fit over the calipers?

I cannot find a solid answer on this. Some say yes other say it's not even close...

Here are the wheels in question.

I don't think anyone would know for sure unless they have done the upgrade with those specific wheels. I've seen the pics and some of the wheels are so close it's crazy.

(My Opinion) I would buy just one caliper. Pull the wheel, unbolt the existing caliper, pull the rotor, mount the new caliper, mount the wheel. If it doesn't fit, return the caliper. If you just unbolt the existing caliper (and don't disconnect the lines) you can just put it all back together the way it was.

just my $0.02

That's a good idea, although I will keep this thread open in case anyone has done it with these wheels. My guess is that they will not fit but we shall see.

Some tundras came with those wheels from the factory. The 199's will fit.
Not sure on the 231's.

^this. those come stock on the tundra (non-steel). i'm sure someone will come along shortly with an answer to the 231's fitting...

Right, I figured the 199's would be a non-issue, it's the 231's i'm concerned about.

I put the 231 on my wife's 2001 4runner. We ran the stock 16" limited wheels just fine.
