Where did you install your crossovers??? Got any pics?? If not can you be really descriptive on where you did.

hey, i installed my passenger side crossover flush with the kick pannel on the carpet, and the driver side one above that little foot pad deal. The crossovers with my set are fairly small. What kind of speakers did you get?

havent gotten them yet but soon. they are the boston rc620. how did you run the wires to the speakers?? through the rubber grommet?

well....haha....you see, i was to lazy and inexperienced when i installed them so i just ran the wires beside the looms and gromets. Some day I plan to go back and run them through it.

I have MB Quart separates up front. The tweeters were installed in the kick panels and the mids were installed in the OEM spot. The wires were all run through the OEM spots.

My crossover assy is mounted where the jack is.... under the passenger side rear seat.

Then I have Eclipse coax's in the passenger doors and two 10" subs in a custom box in back.

The amps are located under the two front seats.

hey, do you have any pictures of that set up? I am curious about the tweaters in the kick pannels. Did you notice an improvement in the imaging vs. the factory location?

My tweets are located in the factory location. Mounting tweeters so low isn't really a good "optimal" location since tweets are usually best heard at ear level. You get away with mids in the kicks.

Hiding Crossovers
 

I hid my crossovers INSIDE (through the speaker hole) the actual door itself. It's easy, out-of-the-way, and completely invisible. If you do that though wrap it with some batting in case any water from a wet window drips off, and then push it as far forward in the door as you can. The bottom of the window won't hit it anyways, but if you can shove it forward with the batting around it, it won't slide around. When I was installing, I also considered screwing or velcro-ing the crossovers in the map pocket that is at the bottom of the door panel. There's plenty of room there for the crossover and a map or 10 or 50. If you went that way, you'd have to drill a small hole to run you wires through. The velcro would have been stick-on, an of course you'd have to drive some screws through your door panel, and then put nuts on the reverse side to hold the screws.

Not sure if mhawker has the same kinda setup, but this is how I flush mounted my tweeters into the factory kickpanels:

Imaging is great, much better than stock location, but not as good as having them in true kickpanels and having the tweeters/mids properly aimed for imaging.

Yup, that's basically what I have. Mine are not flush mounted, but rather behind screens so I could aim them up and in towards the center of the car. The stock locations are not ideal for tweeters. Kick panels are better because you never want your tweeters farther away than half of the wavelength of the crossover frequency from your mids... or something like that. Mine was professionally installed, so I left it up to them.

In fact, people who sit in my car can not believe the stock tweeters are disconnected. They think the sound is coming from them. The only disadvantage I've seen to having them down there, is that there is a reason it's called a KICK panel. I've bumped my grills a few times too many on accident.

If you are going to install these yourself, use a couple of laser pointers to aim your speakers. They should cross about the middle of the car as far forward as you can.

Most of the time your focus should be on "Front Stage/ Rear Fill". That means spend money on your front speakers and their install but save a little on the back ones. You'll be surprised, how much the sound will stage will rise with rear fill speakers properly adjusted.

Also, keep in mind, your ears hear left and right better than up and down. That's kinda why you can get away with mounting speakers down low as long as they are more "in front" of the subject. Ideally, you'd have your speakers directly in front of you, facing you... but obviously, that's the challenge in car audio. Custom installed Wave Guide speakers are the only ones I've seen even come close to this. They are VERY expensive, though.

Mount your crossover wherever you can fit it. Keep it away from heat and moisture. The Quart assembly is pretty big, so it wouldn't fit under the dash or behind the kick panel, so it had to go under a seat.

if you can get those pics that would be great. Just trying to get an idea of what options i have. right now, its looking like if i can fit them in the door, i will. If not then the kick panel, if that doesnt work, guess with will have to go under the seat.

I would not recommend putting them in the door due to the chance of moisture. I don't know what crossovers you're using, but unless they are waterproof, install them inside the car somewhere.

I'm sure there are people who've done it, but IMO it makes more sense to avoid the chance of problems.

Here are some pics of the system in my truck. I don't have any of the crossover set up, but I'll try to get some later.

Here is the sub box. It has two 10's. If I was to do it again, I'd put 12's in or 3 JBL 10's.
