Thank god for UPS

Alright..recieved my reverse indiglo gauges in the mail today, as warned, the install instructions are worthless. Thanks to Brian Im a vet at getting the cluster out, but once I get there, I'm pretty much clueless. I imagine I will have to borrow a power tester, has anyone succsefully completed a gauge swap yet?

Hey Nerf...glad you like 'Brown'...they always ream me on shipping anything to this rock. Bastids! The power hookup is pretty simple. My gauge faces and vac gauge are spliced into my 'park' lights; ie: clear corners. You want it to come on with the parking lights so it's simple. I ran a long wire (through the rubber grommet in firewall) up to the drivers corner lamp. I removed the lens to access the wires. I believe the green wire is the power. If you have a volt meter you can check. I cut the wire and using a butt connector, spliced the long wire into the park power wire. The other wire you hookup is just the ground. There is a metal prong/tab with a screw behind the drivers kick panel that is an excellent ground. Good luck and post them pics when you're done. If you have that lame metal plate screw/glue panel with the color selector/dimmer, cut the switches out and install them in an unused stock switch cover...takes longer, but looks cleaner and stealth too.

But Brain man...Im lost..Want to take a trip to CA? I don't have a power tester, and am extremely electrically challenged.

Rubber gromit in the firewall? What kind of wire did you use? where did you get it? How do I even connect it? Do i have to cut the plastic wire cover and just wrap it around the hot wire? How do i ground it? How many blondes does it take to install a set of rev. indiglo gauges?

Ya it came with that dimmer/ color switch thingamajig. You think i can shave it to fit in one of the factory slots? or should I just mount it, or forget the color switch and just tap it into the factory dimmer switch.....

ugh.

Hey man...you're scarin' me. LOL. It's not that hard, but if you've never done any wireing, it might seem intimidating. Maybe someone in Cali can help ya? A guy on ODW put the Indi dimmer and color switch in a switch cover like me...here's his pic...looks clean.
Indi switch/dimmer factory look install

Nerf, I just installed my gauges. I was going to hook into power the same way that Brian did, but my dad had a better idea. Why not just hook into the power coming into the dash, that powered the original gauges. You just have to find the wire and tap that. That is what I did and it works great. The thing is, that you have to know which wire to tap, and that you need a multimeter. I would highly suggest before you go and slash some wires apart, go to a electronic store and get yourself a cheap but good one! That way you can test it. It is not like this is going to be the only time you are going to use it, you know what I mean? :fireman:

Glad someone is happy with the Big Brown. Its like a sweatshop to work for them in the hub this time of year. But they have pretty good benifits for part time and pay 100% tuition, books, and 600$ per semester if I pass 6 credits. So I really cannot complain if I only load boxes into containers to be put on planes for 4 hours a night.

Heh doesn't surprise me the place is very unorganized and missorting will be up till we (if we ever) get moved into the new hub thats fully automated. We were schedualed to go in there the beginning of June but belts were moving in the wrong direction etc. stupid stuff which makes me begin to think wtf does the management do here.

That is scary Krash. I seem to have more luck with FedEx. If I were you I wouldn't say anything since job markets suck everywhere.

Personally I wish the place would go up in flames :fireman: since they are screwin me outa a .50$ raise I was supposed to get . Yeah a big factor in where I order is who they ship it through. I order all my computer parts from newegg.com and they ship fedex. I like fedex mainly because 90% of the time I get my stuff earlier then they said. I need to find a fedex shirt to wear to work.
