Tailgate hinge bolts
 

The hinge on my tailgate (89 4-wd PU) has managed to loose two side bolts. Actually I found one of them (needs a posidrive) but the nuts that are inside the tailgate are missing. The Toyota dealer schematic doesn't show any nuts inside but there is just two big holes there.

Went to the hardware store and found suitable replacement bolts and nuts. (FWIW the guy at McGuckins asked right away if it was a Toyota truck and said I wasn't the first.) So now my question is how to install them. I took the access panel off but it doesn't give access to the right place, way down inside. Any hints or tricks?

you might want to try a magnet arm thing for retrieving dropped parts
