Tacoma problem
I have a 04 Tacoma Extra Cab, 4x4, V6, auto trans. I am getting a vibration in the steering wheel between 1250-1500 RPMs everytime I start from a dead stop. After I get past that point everything is smooth. I don’t think it is a engine problem, mileage is good and runs fine. Does anyone know of any known issues causing what I am experiencing? I have 4700 mi and it’s not getting any better. Didn’t really notice it until I started driving in stop and go in traffic, now it is really bothering me. Drove another 04 truck and it was fine. Any help?

Could be the drive shaft/u-joints. Check for tightness of bolts. Check the torque of the lugnuts as well (about 85 ft/lbs), maybe they weren't torqued correctly from the factory/dealer.

this is an off the wall thing, what tires do you have on it? normally from a stop, a certain rpm like 1500 is at a certain speed, every time... some tires are worse than otehrs at having a marked hum or noise @ a certain speed.....

I have the BF Goodrich All-Terrains, what comes with the TRD pkg. I would think bad tires would show up at high speeds, but who knows. All this makes me wish I kept my 97, that was a great truck, and probably still is. I’ll check the tightness of things today and if I don’t find anything I guess I’ll make an appointment at the dealer, something I hate to do. I should have been paying more attention on my test drive.
