Tacoma bed bolts rusted, ideas removing
Hey, like the title says, i have a 97 tacoma with rusted bed bolds. i tried penetraiting oil, let soak. got one to turn, but it just kinda clicks around, isnt coming out. the top of 2 of the bolts seems to be in the rear cross member, so how can i get them off and still be able to re-install. ideas are much apriciated. thanks, steve

I know you said you'd like to reinstall them, but if they wont come out, maybe you can try a bolt extractor set. It'll probably ruin the heads, but you might be able to replace them with some new ones from a fastener supplier.

:great: pb blaster :great:
if you tried that one then your outa luck~~ |
If I remember corrcctly...you should have bolts like bumper bolts on the bed. The top has a square under it that catches when tightened. So if its true...then you have a nut on the under side of the bolt thats inside the framerail. Have someone stand in the bed on the bolt and try turning it from the under side that way. We use to weld the heads to the bed and turn the nuts that way...but of course we had to go buy new bolts that didn't cost much.

i hear alot about pb blaster, but i cant find that stuff anywhere out here (california). by re-install i mean the bed, not the bolts. i am confused because if i grind/or cut them off, how do i get a new bolt inside that cross member type thing under the bed. i dont mind buying new bolts, i just dont want to have to cut into the bed to install them. any ideas
