Sylvania Silverstars - Opinions?

There were a few posts awhile back about some of the members installing the Silverstar headlight lamps. How do they compare to stock and the Superwhites? If I recall, the stock lamps are 55/65 watts (or in that range). What are the Silverstars rated?

Also, I've heard rumor that Pennsylvania is going to pass a law making the higher wattage lamps no longer street legal (unless they come from the factory:confused: )... :wtf: Anyone have any info on that bullcrap?

I recently picked up a set and they do make a difference, not much, but noticable. They are the same wattage as stock, just a whiter light. There is also a rebate floating around for them right now, $10 off. I think you can get it from their website, or whatever store you purchase them from should a little rebate slip to mail in.

Like you said Rick,
there were some posts a little while back. Do a search and you can see what the opinions were on that. I installed them on my '94 and am happy that I did. I don't know if my stock lights were dimmer than others but I am very happy with mine. My brother has a '92 Toy pickup and his stock lights were brighter than my stock lights, I don't know why.

I was happy with the sylvania silverstars I installed as well. The headlights definitely have a whiter color to them. They are a little brighter, but if you don't notice enough difference to keep you comfortable in night driving, look into driving or fog lights. They can make a world of difference. With my headlights adjusted properly, so that the beam lights far enough out to see decently, there is no light right in front of me for like the first 15-20 feet. My driving lights are mounted lower, so they tell me what's right in front of me, so i am not suprised by ugly potholes or dips when driving.

Look in the gear review section for a couple before and after pics of mine. I am happy with them. Probably not as bright as superwhites but at half the price they work better than stock!

Thanks, all. I did a search prior to my first post on this and had hoped there were more members who had installed them recently and would provide feedback. It certainly appears that there are quite a few upgrade lamps that everyone seems to prefer. But I'm 99.9% sold on the Osram Silverstars...

Aren't Osram and Sylvania Silverstars the same? I think Osram is just the european brand name of Sylvania....at least that is what I remember reading in an earlier post.....My silverstars were actually labeled has Osram Sylvania....

My opinion of these bulbs are that they are an improvement over the stock bulbs....They are definitely whiter, but just not to the superwhite/extreme white level....For being half the price of the piaa's, they are worth the co$t.....If you are going for the extreme bright white look, you may want to $hell out the buck$....IMHO
