Removing VSC?
Argh... so I was out testing my suspension, and among other things the major annoyance..... VSC!!! Argh I can even make gravel fly cuz it kicks in... heres my idea... I want a switch that can disable it....
It gets disabled when the Center Diff Lock is engaged... I want to be able to disable the VSC without having the locker on... Anyone know what to do? What Wires? Ducky |
Hrmm...I don't know which wires it'd be myself, but I think Phong (phorunner.com) might.
Al P.S. The year & type of vehicle you have would help. You didn't post that info & it's not in your sig file...yet. :D |
VSC???
What is it? Vehicle Skid Control? What year? I don't think I have it. Why was it a problem?

...
Nope... I have printed the thread though... just haven't sat down to do so yet....
Sorry yea... I have a 2001 4runner SR5 Sport.... (looking for sig) Ducky :pat: |

So back to the original question...
Anyone know how to disable VSC without using the center locker? |
I posted a 'fix' about this issue many months ago. Turns out, it wasn't a fix at all, cause it doesn't work. (Really sorry for the bad info. :ignore: )
Here's the old thread: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...?threadid=7862 I did discover a new thing or two while testing (although I can't say any of them are "good"). First, the VSC/Active-TRAC ECU has failover paths. Meaning if you try to disable it by simply disconnecting a wire(s) or pulling a fuse, it has another path to activate the ABS (the wiring diagram from the Electrical Manual seems to back this up). May be a built-in safety net, so that if something were to truly fail, it would still function until its serviced. Real pain the a$$. Second, engaging the locker didn't totally disable VSC. In 4Hi/#, the VSC/Active-TRAC still kicked in attempting to straighten out my rig if I got my Runners tail waging to much (the little VSC idiot light on the dash would flash like mad at the same time too). Only in 4Lo/Lo was I able to 'disable' the Active-TRAC/VSC. At which point difficult to play since a ton of torque is going straight to the wheels. The only thing I've been able to come up with is to somehow disable the wheel spin sensors (or their communication path to the ECU's). My only concern there is will this freak out the ECU's if they can no longer hear/communicate with the wheel-spin sensors?? Another member raised the question a few months ago about possibly reprogramming the 4WD ECU PROM to activate pin 26 (the "TRAC OFF" switch contact for 2WD models). The 4WD models simple ignore pin 26 when put to ground. I'm guessing that the VSC/Active-TRAC PROM's are probably burned with a proprietary code, so I'm not going to be the first to go there, but I'll be glad to sit back and watch... |
