Steering Woes

Well about a month and $500 ago I had the central drag linkage on my 87 replaced. There was a gap in the ball joint on the driver side and it didn't look very good from my perpective. Well yesterday while i was driving i noticed the cornering felt a little wierd. Driver side tire kind of slid if you will in sand on the road. I had just gotten off the interstate and my first thought was "Ok. I hit a nail and one of my tires is going low". Two turns later i found a parking lot and checked my tires, they were all fine. So i get back on the road and get to a red light and need to turn right. Turn the wheel and gas the truck and to my surprise it doesn't turn. The red warning lights in my head go off and i know the linkage has ĊĊĊĊed up. I check the driver side tire and it is pointing the opposite direction than my other tire. Kick it straight and make it through the intersection into a parking lot. I then get creative because i need to make it another 30 miles to home so i grab the first thing i see which happens to be a 6 foot length of cotton robe. ;) You all see where this is going. The ball joint on the linkage where the tie rod connects completely snapped apart. I roped the thing back together and limped home. Anyone else have this sort of problem or fix something that should technically be a couple hundred to fix all in the name of making it home?

i was driving last week on the freeway doing probably around 60 mph, went over a lane and tried to shift, the pedal went to tthe floor... i continued driving creatively without a clutch until i got to my freinds house... hung out with her for a few hours then went outside and looked at the truck... a bolt on the slave backed out and it angled upwards and bent the crap out of the pushrod.... well i drove it 50 miles home without a clutch. and the next morning took my sisters car and went and got parts for it.....
