Steering
I have had an issue with the way my 95 4Runner steering while on the road. It wants to wander. I have an OEM SS on order (Monday) and hope that will tighten things up. I have bilstien shocks, new Michelins on stock alloy wheels.
Any ideas? Thanks |
Don't pick up the stock ss! Seriously, that bike pump won't do anything to tighten up the steering. Order an OME unit for your rig. It's a direct bolt in. See Joey's writeup in the tech section. He has a 94, but it would be the same as yours.

A steering stabilizer should help out alot.
The only other thing I would look at would be the rack and pinion bushing. On my 97', it wandered a little and my steering wheel was a little crooked. I took it to the shop for alignment and they said it wouldnt keep a good alignmnet due to excessive play in the rack and pinion due to the worn bushing. I went ahead with their advice and had the bushing replaced with a Energy Suspension poly bushing and it made a world of difference; steering wheel straight, alot less wandering, more responsive steering, and even took out a little of the vibration. Just something else to consider.:nerd: |

I just re-read your sig. Your typo in the post had me confused. You typed OEM and I think you meant OME. Anyway, you'll like the improvement.
