Spacer/Shock question??
 

I currently have the Downey HDs, and I like the hieght, but I want a little more. I was thinking of some spacers. I've noticed that Day Star is a popular brand. But I've also read that spacers can cause the rig to ride rough. What's the story behind this. I don't see how it could. What's the difference in the coil meeting a spacer or the regular spot?
Also, will I need a longer shock with the added one inch spacer. I'm going with the Edelbrock shocks and I don't think they are longer than stock. Can someone verify this.

)Well I can tell you about my experiances with spacers. I am running Bils. and wish I had at least asked about longer shocks b/c I think that may be part of my rougher ride problem. But I used spacers up front fr 2.5" of lift and Downey HD coils out back. The rear rides fine but the front is very stiff at times. It sometimes causes my CD player to skip(but that may just be the rig job I did on it:laugh: )

It seems to me to be rugher with the spacers because the sacers preload the shocks taking away valuable compression room, you might want longer shocks but you would still be taking the rebound area. You may not experiance this with only 1" but 2.5" sure as heck did it for me.

If I could have done it over I would have gone with the Race Runner Coilovers, I was just so into getting it all right then and having it done. I shoud have bought the Race Runners and then recovered the $$$ and waited. But oh well, maybe soeday I will improve my ride and sell the spacers, and get some Race Runners.

If you want some really good spacers contact Conrfed Suspension. They're spacers are better than Daystar I think, Daystar are polyurethane, the Conrfedones are solid aluminum. Take a look at their site and see what you think. cornfedsuspension.com

JSB, Downey makes a spacer kit for the same coils you and I have.

It will raise it 1.5", and you also get the panhard drop bracket.

Okay, I'll check those out. BUt what do you think about the Edelbrocks? I'll probably have to get a different shock won't I?

The Edel's I have are great with the added lift I got from the HD coils.

You might have to call up Edelbrock and talk with the techs there to see if they think the IAS shock wil over extend or not with an added 1.5" of lift.
