Shop said Delete the resonator

Getting a magnaflow on 2003 V8 4runner. Just the muffler.
Muffler shop said to just delete the resonator. Is this right?

LIVE4SWELL 10-06-2003 06:35 PM

just remove it and put a stainless tip on the end

r0cky 01-07-2004 09:00 PM

how does one go about removing the resonator?

toy283 01-07-2004 09:07 PM

Hacksaw? :D

gn86r 01-07-2004 09:07 PM

remember that the resonator quiets the exhaust down a bit, so if you dont want it too loud you might wanna keep it on. im assuming they are piping straight from the cat to the muffler?

r0cky 01-07-2004 09:12 PM

hacksaw sounds like a nice and easy route to go :)

i have a v8 '03 and had a magnaflow put on over christmas ... but it sure seems quiet. :)

flecker 01-07-2004 09:17 PM

Sawzall is less work... but I'm lazy:D

r0cky 01-07-2004 09:19 PM

well if we're trying to be extra lazy, then why not rig the hacksaw or sawzall to a stick so we don't have to bend over or really move at all? ;)

flecker 01-07-2004 09:27 PM

works for me man... then we just need someone to hand us beer:drink:

r0cky 01-07-2004 09:31 PM

I'll rig us up another stick with a shepherd's crook at the end so we can kind of just poke around and drag some over. Then of course you might have to design something to get the beer from the stick to our hands ...

but all in all, we'd have a good setup! :)

flecker 01-07-2004 09:33 PM

Bravo!

r0cky 01-07-2004 09:37 PM

Just make sure I don't drink too much because then I'm likely to accidentally break one of our inventions, and who knows if we'd have enough un-laziness to ever repair them!

flecker 01-07-2004 09:39 PM

Right... when I nod my head, you hit it!:drink: :drink: Already made my beer getter too, found me an old stick in the yard... looks just like my neighbors cane, hmmmm:hillbill:

r0cky 01-07-2004 09:43 PM

hahaha ... well, damn, if they are too lazy to walk on their own then they deserve to have their cane confiscated for better uses, i'd say!

any chance a walker would be even better?

i'm making our stick out of straws.

flecker 01-07-2004 09:46 PM

Well, it's a proven fact that you can fix anything with a roll of duct tape and some bailing wire.... as for the walker, that sounds a little to "heavy" for us to try and lift.

r0cky 01-07-2004 09:49 PM

you're right ... the walker would be far too heavy and require far too much energy expenditure.

duct tape, for certain. saved my feet and pack a couple dozen times in the backcountry.

i bet we could for sure find some use in having one of those long stick things with the little grabber at the end ...

but the cane - it is aluminum or some lightweight metal, yes? wood is just bordering on requiring too much muscle.

flecker 01-07-2004 09:53 PM

We are sad.... you know it? doh, andf yes the cane is wood.... :(

r0cky 01-07-2004 10:11 PM

hey, i asked a question and it is not my fault if stick-poking just seemed to be the right answer!

:)

momo.75 01-08-2004 12:46 AM

I have a better idea.......I could drop my truck off at the muffler shop and let them cut it off while i walk across the street to the bar......

Krash 01-08-2004 02:47 AM

Wouldn't that require you to reach into your wallet and pull out some of those heavy dollar bills. Not to mention causing a chain of events causing work to turn into those dollar bills. See its all a big circle.:nerd:
