SAW Help!

I just installed the panhard, the OME´s, and the SAWs. On the Saw´s--From the top of the rim to the bottom of the fender flare(the black ones on the SR5 with 16¨) is 13.75¨ I only have 2" of thread showing--I also have a TJM up front. Does this sound about right?--if not what should the correct measurement be?

I think you need to crank it a little more, somewhere between 2.5-3 inches of thread showing to get 2 inches of lift. If you have the bumper on it, it will pull it down a little more, so you have to adjust it for that too.

That may not be the case with his SAWs. I thought the newer SAWs came with a stiffer spring that kept you from having to crank them as much to achieve the amount of lift you want.

Yep, this is correct. The new SAW's come with a longer, stiffer spring that doesn't require as much cranking to achieve the same amount of lift as the older models. About 2" of thread showing will give you 2.5" of lift if you don't have a winch installed.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all of your help--I´m now sitting at 14.25¨ up front--this is with 1.75¨of thread showing--I measured in the dark last night--and was including the ring in the measurement! So I would guess I have around a 2¨gain. Thanks for clarifying that the new springs are stiffer. Now I just need to get the diff drop installed along with the 285´s. I guess that will raise me up a bit more. The stainless brake lines are amazing. Thanks again for your help.:drink:

hey do the SAW's come with a tool to crank them?

Bighead Oct 25, 2003 02:32 PM

Yeah. Mine came with an el cheapo spanner wrench. I can only assume they still ship the newer Racerunners with one.

I´ll be happy to--I just moved to Mexico and all of my stuff is packed including my camera cable--I´ll get them posted by midweek. I just took a drive--the lift is fun--Mexico has lots to offer! I can´t say enough about the stainless brake lines--For $85 all the way around--it should have been my first mod! The wrench is still included--its cheap but it works well.

Gringo Oct 26, 2003 06:55 AM

These guys are great--they shipped them the next day--there are two different styles depending on the model of 3rd generation you have. http://www.aor4x4.com/braidedbrakelines.htm:)

Now it looks like they are $98 for the kit.
