EWAYota Aug 19, 2005 08:44 PM

something tells me that is his........both solid axled, red, bumper up front but looks different than his, appears to have 35's, i just hope its not.

garrett1478 Aug 19, 2005 08:48 PM

the pic in the avatar has sliders (i think) and chrome wheels it looks like. unless thats an old pic or something and he now has black wheels... i hope its not his

Keggo Aug 19, 2005 08:56 PM

Can you please tell us WHAT HAPPENED?!! I think I'm going to be sick...

CoedNaked Aug 19, 2005 09:05 PM

Something tells me that that is his rig. It IS modded out a bit and it looks like there is a front leaf spring on there with the obvious larger tires.

See what happens guys? See what happens when you swap in a Ford engine into your 4runners? This should come as a lesson for what swaps NOT to attempt!

Man, honestly, that picture makes me sick. Really sad to see. I have a big appreciation for Toyota trucks & 4runners and especially guys who spend their hard earned blood, sweat, and tears on them, to see them end up like this.

fo_runner Aug 19, 2005 09:49 PM

NOOOOO, why god why!

I for once feel sad on Yotatech. May that 4runner Rest In Peace.

I don't see a leaf spring in the burning pic.

Look at the bumpers...avitar has an aftermarket, burning has stock w/pushbar

Burning truck was red, avitar is dark, either black or dark green/blue..It's covered in mud

Guess he doesn't want to answer anyone. To bad it's toast now and to late to do much about it. Time for another one.

phorunninduke Aug 20, 2005 05:39 AM

The truck that is on fire is also missing the sliders. However we need to hear the story none the less. Come on with it you TEASE.

sorry it took so long, i went to bed just after i posted it. And thankfully that is not mine, mine wont run enough to end up like that... it is a very close friend of mine's. he recently had a solid axle swap done by cornfed suspension. I AM NOT BLAMING THIS ON CORNFED, THAT IS SIMPLY INFO ABOUT THE TRUCK, but the logistics are there. Andrew, his girlfriend, his brother and his brothers friend were on they're way home from canada(brother driving, his brothers friend shot gun and he and his girlfriend in the back seat) when theere was a very large thump, enough to knock the face plate off the head unit. His brother noted that he lost all power so went to pull over and when he reached to downshift the shifter had dropped through the floor. andrew looked out the back window and saw flames told everyone to get out, the twon in the front got out, andrew made sure his girlfriend got out by the time he got out the truck was engulfed in flames and he suffered 2nd deree burns to his arms and face and had to be airlifted to the hospital. the only thing salvageable was my hilift i lent him and his winch, both mounted on the warn bumper. the theory is that something went wrong in the rear dif causing it to get hot enough to ignite, possibly low oil, bad wear pattern from the new rear axle(truck axle for leaf spring conversion in the back).

... it had a 3.0

R.I.P 4runner

CoedNaked Aug 20, 2005 06:11 AM

I was being sarcastic about the Ford engine in the 4runner.

And yeah, that's how I figured there was an SAS was b/c of the shackle for the leaf spring just behind the front right wheel.

Looks like it clearly started in the rear end as the rear burnt up quicker...as it is sitting on the ground first...weird...

Sorry for his/your loss. Fire extinguisher could have possibly saved it perhaps.

I'll buy the truck the way it is.
