rubberized undercoating
 

Could I use rubberized undercoating for my rear chrome bumper? I really am getting sick of it and want it painted/line-xed. A can of undercoating is only 3 dollars and it takes 1 hour to dry.

I have heard some people use it in the fenderwells to deaden sound? Where else would this stuff work?

yea i would say go for it, i have done my fender wells with that stuff. My buddy with a jeep cherokee did his front and rear bumpers and trim with that and it turned out great.

The stuff is junk, water gets under it and caused major rust problems

local- the stuff is really good... providing you prepare the surfaces to be coated and all. just search in yotatech for herculiner and linex and rhinoliner and see what others have done with it, maybe message them and ask about how its holding up.

as for the stuff being junk and water getting under it and causing major problems, i dont know about all that. If you prepare the surfaces incorrectly, that could happen, i suppose. maybe get bruceTS to elaborate... ive never heard any bad stories about the stuff.

non prep-ed surfaces It won't hold that well. I don't think it does as good a job as bedliner...I did my interior floor with it.....not impressed. Spend a little extra and get some bed liner.

duplicolor makes sprayon bed liner, for a bumper I think this would work better because it is ment to be walked on

thats usally the best way, but trying to find new ways to do thing is good 2

he's specifically talking about the rubberized undercoating in a spray can, this stuff never gets hard and water can get under the coating quite easily, no matter how well you prep the surface. Duplicolor Bedliner spray works 1000% better, but nothing holds up better than line-X or similar coatings.

I used duplicolor bedliner on my front, rear, roof rack, and tail light gaurds. Holds up great (I did sand everything first) And if it gets scratched spot spray over it, easy touch up.

I was thinking that he meant something different, but I guess I was mistaken... The Dupli-Color stuff does work great: I've never seen anyone complain about it.

I could paint my bumpers 75 times with duplicolor and not pay what line-x charges. Not to mention it even looks better, its black instead of dark grey

I used duplicolor on my sliders, since they get scratched up on every trip....

i saw a 2006 chevy silverado with line-x... it was pretty clean, but its WAY too much. you can herculine 3 times over for as much as 1 line-x job costs.
