I asked that same question a few months ago when I was looking for a 3rd gen. I must say people posted up pix of their truck w/ over 150k and still running strong.

My '96 has 171K miles and runs just as strong as it did 4 years ago when we bought it from Toyota with 75K. I hope to keep it well past 200K.

1989 180k miles here.... just drove from denver to indy and back (got back yesterday). 2200 miles round trip - truck ran better than any of the other 6 times I've done the drive (thanks to this forum). I think I will go change the oil now

Check engine light isn't usually something expensive..Mine comes on seldomly if I get some weird gas. Then it reads o2 sensor, or its lean on the left. Reset, and it goes away for a long time.
