Recalls help please....
 

Hello All!

First let me say this is a great board. Seen too many that are dead.

I was wondering if my 1995 4Runner had any recalls and if I could take advantage of any of them. I just bought my rig and have never looked into or taken advantage of any recalls ever.

Questions:
1) How do I find what recalls there are for my runner?
2) How do I know if I can still get them fixed?
3) Is it different if I am located in Canada?

Here are the specs on my rig.

Year/Make/Model: 1995 TOYOTA 4RUNNER SR5
Body Style: 4 Dr Sport Utility
Engine Type: 2.4L L4 EFI
5 Speed Manual

Any help would be very cool.

Hello Chris, I am not sure if it makes any difference being in Canada or not, but look on my home page and scroll down and look for "Cool Sites And Manufacturers" under the links section.
I have a link to the recalls and (TSB's) technical service campaigns from Toyota.

You can plug your info in from the site and look and see all what's covered.

If you have not already, run your VIN # by the dealer to see if they can tell what all has been done to it so far.


I received a brand new short block for my rig when the previous owner took it in. The 3.0 engines were infamous for blowing the passenger side head gasket.

Well I checked your site and it gave me a long list of about 65 things. I called Toyota Canada up and they said there are none. I called my local dealership up also and they said the same. Bummer. Wouldn't of minded a RE & RE. God I hate that phrase. RE & RE = $$$$

That is weird there are no open TSB's out for your rig. Mabye a lot of them were fixed prior to '95?

I know mine had quite a few such as the head gaskets, air-con system, and a few other pidley small things.

Hi All,
There is a difference between a recall (they call you back to fix something) and a TSB. TSB are usually information on a common problem or something that they have a remedy for, but it may not be a safety item to have a recall. They have troubleshooting tips and information sharing on them too. Sometimes a revised process for doing some work.

Chris, I know mine needed a head gasket and all, so I went to the dealer and they ran the VIN # and it told me what was wrong w/ it and the date the previous owner had the recalls fixed. It was great and I don't have to worry about doing it myself! :beaver:
