Rear Hitch on 03?

Hello all,

I was reading some place on the forum that the tongue does not insert to the receiver. Well I tried it out tonight and I could not make it fit. I don't really feel like taking it to the deal to get this fixed. For those of you that have had this problem. What did Toyota do to fix the problem?

I think one guy just "messed" with it a bit and got it in.

Try and spray some WD40 or something and see if it goes in.

Man, I can't believe all these hitch issues with the 03's. I just got a chrome ball mount and stainless steel "Bulley Ball" and it went right in/on.

That was me that made it fit. I basically worked it in and out until there was enough wear so that it would fit. It just seemed like a sloppy fab job.

WD40 wouldn't work for for me, it's the size, absolutely does not fit. Like a child's shape toy trying to put the cube in the square hole, but the cube is too big. The dealer said they ordered a new hitch for mine on Friday. Not sure what part they really ordered. I am confused on what each part is called. I believe the receiver (hole) is too small on mine as the hitch (bar) would fit in other 03 receivers at the dealer.

That is exactly the problem!. It is like trying to shove a square into a circle. Let me know if this helps the problem!

Update on the hitch. Just had a new receiver put in and now everything works fine. Dealer had it for a few hours, guess it was a tough job for them. So, that took 2 months, glad I didn't have to tow anything.

So one receiver worked and another didn't? Hmm.... So it's a screwup on the size not on purpose. My company's bike racks don't fit into the new 'yota receivers, but fit all other receivers. Interesting info! Thanks!

somehow during the assembly line, a batch of bad hitches were installed. you can tell by just trying to fit anything in there... if it doesn't fit, just take it to the stealer and they'll change it for ya as they are well aware of the problem.

if they don't take it elsewhere as other stealers will do it for ya.

Did this happen with Lexus hitches too? That's where our problem lies.
