Questions regarding tire sizes
I am a bit of a newbie so I apologize beforehand if these seem like easy questions. I have a '98 sr5 4runner, am currently doing shopping for new tires. I currently have my mind set on the bridgestone revo's. I am wondering what the average cost to have a 1" lift put on would be, in order to be able to fit 285's. In addition, has anyone with 285's put on a similar model 4runner noticed much of a difference with the 285's and 1" lift? In addition, what have peoples experiences with putting 265 75 16 size tires on been? I did try to do some searching but was not able to find the answers. Any help would be appreciated.

thats a good FAQ for stuff like lifts and tire sizes but you'll need more than an inch to run 33s, most people run a 2.5" suspension lift and 1" body lift to fit them with minor to no problems. i run 265/75s, and with a 1" body lift, its perfect. you can fit them on a stock 4runner too. a lot of this is talked about in that FAQ though. good luck :) |
I love the look of the bigger tires, but you should figure out what gears and current tire size. I was in your shoes over a year ago and did my research, but I was suprised at how doggy it felt to move from 31 to 32's. I rubbed pretty good on my 32's before my 2.5" lift. If you still want bigger tires, I'd get some 265/75's (32's) and get a 1" body lift. Roger Brown's company 4crawler is a very popular choice for a body lift.
